DUNDALK
Dundalk
The area of Dundalk has its roots going back all the way to the exploration of the New World by John Smith in the Colonial Times. As such, the area is one of several historic regions placed on the National Register of Historic Places in the Baltimore City and Baltimore County area. Dundalk was once an economic refuge for economic immigrants from the Appalachian area during the Second World War and had a community that became known as “Little Appalachia.”

Dundalk is one of the first inner ring suburbs of the City of Baltimore and has the city located to its west.
Where should I eat?
Any visit to Baltimore County, Maryland is not complete without the experience of eating fresh seafood while sitting beside a body of water on a patio. In Dundalk, you can have this experience at the Hard Yacht Café, an American fare restaurant that features great happy hour deals as well as late night specials. When you think of Maryland, you think of crabs. At Hard Yacht you can get some of the best crab egg rolls around and at a phenomenal price. The café frequently has live music to entertain patrons and the locals rave about the friendly and attentive staff. The best part of the Hard Yacht Café is that it is open all day so you can enjoy their patio for breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day long, seven days a week. The restaurant is open from 7am through midnight every night, except for Wednesday where they close at 11pm.
Maybe it is raining and you are looking for a more indoors place to sit down and have lunch, or you are looking for a great place to sit down and have a quick bite to eat and a sandwich worth a stop. The DELIsh, New York Style Deli is a great plce to stop get a sandwich and some chips and head back out the door to continue to explore Dundalk. This is a cozy little place, but has a lot of flavor and uses fresh and local ingredients to fill you up fast and cheap. Here you will find an excellent buffalo chicken wrap and friendly service. This deli is open all seven days a week and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. DELIsh opens at 10am every day and closes at 8pm, except for Sunday’s where they cut out an hour early at 7pm.
If you are looking for some rib-sticking BBQ, Dundalk has something for you as well. The Smokin’ Joes Grill has both indoor and outdoor seating where you can enjoy their full array of traditional BBQ food. As you would imagine, the locals have a lot of favorites here, starting with the hot roast beef sandwich with cheddar cheese, fries, and plenty of gravy, as well as several of the pit meats you will find at BBQ places like ham and pit beef. Come get full seven days a week from 10:30am through 8pm, and on Sundays they are open at 11am and stay open through 7pm.
Are there parks nearby?
Had right on down to the pier with Chesterwood Park. Sit out and enjoy the cool breeze off the water and enjoy one of the several picnic areas to have a nice meal with friends and family. You can fish off of the pier if you are looking to enjoy a lazy Sunday morning of fishing, or even bring the children and let them play on the beautiful playground the park has.
What is there to do?
If you are bringing your family through the Dundalk area, we suggest stopping by the Stansbury Park where you can hit some drives at the range, or put on a helmet and grab a bat at the batting cages. If you are looking to get a little competitive with it and engage in some light physical activity, the recreation center has a miniature golf course which will challenge you and see which one of your family members is truly the best putter in the land.
What places should I visit?
The North Point State Battlefield Park is a historic park that features the ground in which the Maryland State Militia was deployed during the War of 1812. This ground now features several beautiful flower displays and a walkway to enjoy nice weather.
