The Hunt Valley community is home to many of the business that employ thousands of people in the Baltimore County are located. The origins of the Hunt Valley name are based in the rich tradition of horse racing in the area, as it is just East of Maryland’s traditional horse country, and was once the home of the Maryland Hunt Cup steeplechase and jump horse racing competition in 1896. This area is home to the Loch Raven reservoir, which was established in the 1880s and was expanded in the 1910’s.

Hunt Valley is just north of the City of Baltimore and lies along the York Road that is now better known known as Maryland Route 45 that lies off of Interstate 83.
Where should I eat?
Hunt Valley is home to some of the great health food eateries in Baltimore County and that includes a place like Nalley Fresh Hunt Valley that is the highest rated place to eat in the whole community. This place focuses on build your own salads, wraps, and bowls. It is a health-minded place to grab a quick lunch or to sit and enjoy the healthy snack you just picked up. Greg Nalley, who is both the chef and the owner, has been running healthy restaurants and shops across Baltimore County for 20 years. The place makes everything fresh each and every day, and assures you that there is something for everyone as the Nalley Fresh offers over 100 toppings and fresh proteins daily you can make any and every salad you have ever dreamed of. Nalley fresh is only open on weekdays to fulfill all your health food needs.
If you are looking for something a little bigger than a salad or wrap we encourage you to check out the Barrett’s Grill, a new age restaurant focusing on upscale American cuisine, and is conveniently located in a mall with its own patio. Reservations are accepted for lunch and dinner so you can be assured seating either indoors or on their patio. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the venue features live jazz music to enhance your experience. They are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner as well as on the weekends for brunch.
If you are looking for casual cuisine with a side of an interesting theme we have a great place for you. The Silver Spring Mining Company sounds like a place where you would nine to five every day, but is actually a place where you can get traditional American food like burgers and steaks with beer and wine. The restaurant was started by a couple of friends who met at a hockey camp, Calvin Lauf and Gary Rissling who maintained their friendship and love of hockey . They have been running their brand of mining themed resturants for over twenty years. All of their Maryland locations are open seven days a week and have the consistent hours of opening at 11am and staying open until close.
Are there parks nearby?
The Orgeon Ridge Park has something for everyone. If you are heading over for a day at the park with your children the site has a playground available to your children. There is also a nature center where you can learn more about the area and the plant life and animals that call it home. If you are a hiker in the warm months or the colder ones, this park offers several trails and even cross-country skiing in the wintertime. The park also offers sledding in the winter and has a beach in the summer. A park for all seasons and all people located in Hunt Valley!
What is there to do?
Get in touch with the racing past of this community and check out the local Timonium Race Course, which isn’t as active as it used to be but still runs several races a year as part of the local racing community. Hunt Valley also features one of the best golf courses in all of Maryland, a 27-hole course that has been open since 1970.
What places should I visit?
The Hunt Valley Inn is a popular destination for science fiction conventions, and has hosted events relating to Star Wars and Star Trek over the years. The Timonium Fairgounds that are nearby have been the home for the Maryland State Fair for over 150 years and is held annually.
