Bolton Hill is called Baltimore’s garden district for a reason. Home to so many of the city’s great parks.

One of these parks is the John Street Park which is cared for by the Bolton Hill Garden Club. The club runs a spring sale each year to pay for upkeep on the park. This is one of the several urban parks throughout the neighborhood.

The Francis Scott Key Park features a statue of the famous Bolton resident and is centrally located in the neighborhood. The park is meant to commemorate the spot where Key was inspired to write The Star Spangled Banner, during the War of 1812.

The dog park on Mosher Street has been a great addition to the neighborhood.

The Bolton Hill Garden Club proudly takes care of all of these parks and monuments from planting through upkeep, Bolton Hill takes great pride in taking care of their famous parks. They even sponsor tours of the famous gardens and parks throughout the neighborhood on a biannual basis.

Dr. Lillie Carroll Jackson, a former NAACP Baltimore President and a civil rights activist had her home, where so much of her activism was planned and worked through turned into a museum about the battle for civil rights. The building recently underwent an over $3 million restoration and now has the capability to house more exhibits and period pieces.

Nearby the museum, the statue and park dedicated to Francis Scott Key, the author of The Star Spangled Banner, America’s national anthem.
