CHARLES VILLAGE
Charles Village
In 1867, Charles Village was purchased and divided amongst several builders who would craft merely the outside of homes and allow for the inside to be unique. The neighborhood started as a street car suburb, and continued to grow as a suburb of Baltimore. The community name changed from Peabody Village to Charles Village in 1967, named after the central north and south bound street throughout the 45 city block neighborhood. It was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1983.

Where should I eat?
The Charles Village neighborhood is home to one of the most interesting restaurants in Baltimore. This place is a 1950’s retro diner featuring classic American and Indian fare with an upstairs lounge providing great food in a relaxed atmosphere. Reviewers have raved about the Indian cuisine as well as the standard American fare. You can’t go wrong on either half of the menu from either half of the world.

A farm to table offering the healthiest in stir fries, salads, and even fruit based desserts. This is a favorite spot to get a salad on the go for locals. The Wyman Park Dell is a beautiful urban park nearby Charles Village. This 16 acre park has wide open lawns and walking paths to get a brisk walk in n your lunch break or to settle down and have a great picnic in the heart of the city. The park is cared for by the Friends of Wyman Park Dell and the organization holds numerous events throughout the year there such as: planting new trees and flowers and routine park maintenance. This is a hot spot for local groups to hold their events as well.
The Wyman Park is a couple of blocks from the Dell and is family friendly place to enjoy the outdoors as well as bring your furry friends for a walk.

The Baltimore Musuem of Art is home to many beautiful works of art and sculptures that are consistently changing with the seasons and years so that even if you have visited in the past, the museum will be unique. General admission to the museum is free, but we recommend a donation just to keep the museum alive and well-funded for future generations.
